Dominique Washington, Jasmine Robinson, and Irem Ucra, three members of the FAMU volleyball team earned SWAC players of the week honors for the week of Nov. 5th.
"We are happy to see our players get recognized again by the conference," said head coach Gokhan Yilmaz. "Volleyball is a team sport that everyone contributes to the outcome of every point.
"Dominique, Jasmine, and Irem received a lot of help from their teammates, and we are looking forward to playing at a high-level against quality opponents every week."
The recognition came after the Lady Rattlers weekend wins over Grambling State (3-0), Texas Southern (3-2), and Arkansas-Pine Bluff (3-0).
Washington led the Rattlers with 46 kills during their weekend sweep in Grambling State to give the Rattlers 19 wins on the season. Her weekend high of 19 kills came in a sweep versus Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Washington added six service aces and 21 digs for the weekend. This is Washington's sixth SWAC Offensive Player of the Week award.
Robinson had the second most kills for the Rattlers on the weekend with 36 but had the weekend's single match-high with 25 kills in the Rattlers 3-2 win versus Texas Southern. She added 30 digs and five service aces to help the Rattlers improve their record to 19-6. This is Robinson's first SWAC Newcomer of the Week award.
Ucar had another 100 assist weekend as she was responsible for 82% of the team's assists. She had a weekend high of 48 assists in the Rattlers 3-2 win versus Texas Southern. She added 31 digs, seven kills, three service aces, and one block during the Rattlers weekend sweep to improve to 19-6. This is Ucar's sixth SWAC Setter of the Week award.
