The FAMU Rattlers (12-15, 10-6 SWAC) men’s basketball team picked up a crucial SWAC road victory against Grambling State (11-16, 9-7 SWAC) Saturday beating the Tigers 79-73. The win moved the Rattlers firmly into fourth place in the league play.
The Rattlers took a 12-point lead over the Tigers, 38-26 into the half. FAMU continued to hold at least a six-point lead throughout the second half until the Tigers were able to claw their way to within one-point with 2:27 left.
The Rattlers now head to Baton Rouge to play Southern University (15-12, 10-5 SWAC), who sits in third place in the SWAC on Monday night at 9:00 p.m. EST. The Jaguars are currently on a two-game losing streak having dropped a 87-84 decision to Bethune Cookman Saturday night, and 4 point loss to Grambling on their previous outing.
