The FAMU volleyball team defeated the University of West Florida 3-2 (25-23, 22-25, 25-23, 19-25, 15-12) to win it season opener exhibition game yesterday in the Lawson Center.  The Argos came into Lawson ranked #5 in Division 2 volleyball.

2021 SWAC Player of the Year  Dominique Washington  finished the exhibition with a double-double on a game-high 21 kills and 12 digs.

FAMU won the first set 25-23.  However, the pesky Argos went point for point with Rattlers in a second set that featured nine ties, before going on an 8-2 run to win 25-22.

The third stanza ran more or less the same, except this time around, FAMU earned the set win. The Argonauts overpowered FAMU 25-19 in the fourth set, but the Rattlers never trailed in the fifth to defend their home court.

FAMU officially opens its 2022 season next week with a two-day appearance in the Kansas State Tournament. It meets North Carolina State and Sam Houston Friday, before taking on the host Saturday.
