The university agreed to pay just over $107,000 per bed for the nearly 16-years old apartment buildings.
"Acquiring this property will help us accommodate more students in an environment that’s more conducive to their success,” said President Larry Robinson. “It’s going to give us a presence along FAMU Way beyond the roundabout.”
About 75% of the current tenants in the apartments are FAMU students. To maintain continuity, FAMU also signed a management agreement with Off Campus Housing LLC to continue managing the properties through July 31, 2022.
FAMU utilized federal funds from the (pandemic) Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund to make the purchase.
