In the process, FAMU officials are proposing to rebrand “Set Friday” to something else possibly “Amp Friday”, André Green, assistant dean of students and director of student activities, told the Tallahassee Democrat yesterday.
“It (The current location) feels like more of a family thing because everyone’s close together, we’re dancing and that type of thing,” Jayda Woods, a second-year music industry student, told the Tallahassee Democrat. “At the amphitheater, it’s like we’re watching a show, instead of like a Set Friday.”
“I’d say they’re pretty fun because everyone’s enjoying the same experience and it is like a concert,” she said of the plaza layout.
In our online poll, 94 percent of respondents favored leaving the “Set Friday” name as is. One respondent said, “Set Friday today. Set Friday tomorrow. Set Friday forever!”
"It just seems like this administration is trying to do away with all of the FAMU traditions," said another on Twitter. "They tore down Paddyfote, Diamond and McGuinn, now they trying to do away with "Set Friday."
