Medtronic, Target, Estee Lauder, Credit Suisse, Boeing, and federal, state, county and municipal government agencies were among the over 200 employers who participated in FAMU’s Fall 2022 Career and Internship Expo in the Al Lawson Multipurpose Center.
Over 1700 students interviewed for full time jobs and internships at the Career Expo.
“We come to career fair every spring and fall semester because it is a great resource to help us feel our employment needs,” said Michelle Maguire, an auditor at the Florida Office of the Auditor General. “We have offices all over the state and we have FAMU graduates working all over the state.”
The fair was put on by the Career and Professional Development Center to help students pursue their professional goals. They put on events such as the Career and Internship Fair throughout the semester to help people get connected to various opportunities and to assist in developing students’ networks.
“It’s one of the largest career expos in a long time. Employers came; students turned out in great numbers; there was a lot of energy,” said Bill Means, director of the FAMU Career and Professional Development Center. “We had 50 organizations that scheduled next day interviews with students. It shows that employers are serious about hiring our students.”
Recruiting booths occupied the first and second floors of the Lawson Center. Sixty employers signed up for the Fall 2022 Virtual Career and Internship Expo that took place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, said Means.
“FAMU is offering a lot of opportunities that we wouldn’t be able to find all in the same place anywhere else,” said Reginald Johnson, one of the students that participated. “FAMU has given me a lot since I’ve been here and has introduced me to a lot of different people, a lot of different companies, opportunities, and I’m grateful for that.”
