Rattlers pick up a 7-5 road victory over Bethune

The FAMU baseball team took game one of a three game road series against in-state rival Bethune Cookman with 7-3 decision in Dayton Beach, FL.  The Rattlers improved to 13-13 on the season ( 7-0 SWAC).  

The Rattlers got on boards first after a bases loaded-walk in the first to take the early 1-0 lead.  Cookman tied the game 
 
Bethune-Cookman (14-12, 5-2 SWAC) tied the game in the bottom of the inning on a single.  
FAMU responded with a pair of runs in the second on three hits to make the score 3-1.
The Wildcats took the lead in the bottom of the third after a three run rally to go ahead 4-3. after a double, a single, and a Rattler throwing error.

The Rattlers fought back in fifth after a single, to tie the game on a B-CU error, and a passed ball.

FAMU  broke the tie in the eight on a two-run homer to dead center field that tilted the scales to 6-4. They added one more in the night to make it 7-4.
 
Both teams added single scored in the final ending with Rattlers sealing the victory 7-5.
 
With the victory FAMU remains in first place in the SWAC East, two games ahead of Alabama State.
 
The Rattlers and the Wildcats meet again at 6 pm tonight at Jackie Robinson Stadium. The final  series concludes on Sunday at 1 pm.

Softball team hammers MVSU 13-3
The Rattler softball team overpowered conference foe Mississippi Valley State to pick up a 13-3 victory at home.  

The Rattlers took a 3-0 lead in the first inning, before surrendering a run to the Delta Devilettes in the second. FAMU then used the second inning to add 5 more more runs and added 4 more runs in the third.  

The victory helped the Rattlers improve to 13-14 overall (6-4 SWAC), third place SWAC East behind Bethune and Alabama State.
