'88 FAMU grad G. Scott Uzzell named VP/GM of NIKE North America

G. Scott Uzzell
, a 1988 graduate of the FAMU School of Business, was recently named Nike’s vice president/general manager of North America, the company recently announced.

Uzzell had served as CEO and president of Nike’s Converse division for the past several years. The move comes as part of  senior leadership changes at Nike Inc. “that will continue to build on its strong momentum and underscore its commitment to product innovation, serving athletes and unrivaled brand storytelling, while driving deeper integration across the business.”

In his new role, Uzzell will report to Craig Williams, who is slated to become president, Geographies & Marketplace, NIKE, Inc. 

Uzzell joined Converse in 2018 following a stint at Coca-Cola Company where he served as president, Venturing & Emerging Brands Group and led the development of a portfolio of high-growth brands, such as Honest Tea, ZICO Coconut Water, Health Ade, Fairlife Milk and Suja Juice.

At Converse, Uzzell led all aspects of the business, globally and oversaw the company’s successful return to the Basketball category across product, marketplace, and sponsorships, after a 10-year hiatus from the sport.

Uzzell is a member of the FAMU Foundation Board of Directors.
