FAMU, yesterday, introduced DeLand, FL, native Bridgette Gordon as the 8th head women’s basketball coach in program history. Gordon who, in June, joined New Mexico State as an assistant coach/recruiting coordination, replaces Shalon Pillow who abruptly resigned last month.
During Pillow’s tenure, the Lady Rattlers compiled a 9-48 record in three years and two seasons of play. The Rattlers lost one year due to COVID.
I disagree with this hire. It's obvious to me that FAMU is in the business of hiring "white college alumni only" for vacant head coaches positions. HBCU Alumni need not apply. What have we become? We only have ONE assistant football coach that is an HBCU Alumnus. I can no longer support FAMU Athletics and will no longer encourage student athletes to choose FAMU until we right this ship. It starts at the top.
