FAMU Head Football Coach Willie Simmons issued a statement late last night, via his social media accounts, after a music video featuring local rapper Real Boston Richey filmed inside the team locker room surfaced. The rapper was decked out in FAMU football helmets and occasional gear using lewd and profane language.
Simmons claims the video was unauthorized and an internal investigation is being conducted.
Further, Simmons says he is “effectively suspending all football related activities. It is a privilege to wear the Orange and Green and as a football program our young men have failed to live up to the standard set before us. They will all learn from this mishap and we will continue to work to become the best version of ourselves to make Rattler Nation proud.”
The Rattler football team is currently involved in their offseason training, workouts, and player led drills leading up to the start of the official fall football training camp which starts on August 4.
The video for the song "Send A Blitz" was posted to youtube yesterday morning, and as of this writing, has been viewed more than 83,000 times.
The Rattler football team kicks off its 2023 season September 3, in Miami Gardens against conference foe Jackson State University.
