FAMU’s main campus in Tallahassee survived Hurricane Idalia, with little to minor damaged President Larry Robinson said on Wednesday. “There appears to be no major damage or loss of power on the Tallahassee main campus, just a few fallen limbs and other debris,” Robinson said. Newly acquired “Rattler Pointe apartments had one downed tree, which crews had cleared by crews Wednesday afternoon.”
The University will continue to assess the situation as the storm proceeds. Wind gusts of up to 50 miles per hour were reported at Bragg Memorial Stadium as the hurricane moved through the region.
Classes and University operations are suspended at the Tallahassee main campus, Quincy, and the Viticulture Center through Friday, September 1. The University is scheduled to resume normal operations on Tuesday, September 5.
