Former FAMU wide receiver Xavier Smith who was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Los Angeles Rams in May was waived yesterday and may have to start his rookie season on a practice-squad deal. Smith played 24 snaps (15 offensive) during the Rams' preseason finale but wasn't targeted.
Similarly, former Rattler linebacker Isiah Land, the former Buck Buchanan Award winner, who signed with the Dallas Cowboys in April as an undrafted free agent was also waived yesterday. Land played in all three Cowboys preseason games and registered seven total tackles (three solo), a sack, a tackle for loss, and two quarterback hits. He is also expected to make the Cowboy’s practice squad.
Update: Isiah Land was claimed by the Indianapolis Colts and added to their active roster this afternoon.
