FAMU golf team takes first place in SAS HBCU Invitational

The FAMU Men’s Golf team won the 2023 SAS Championship HBCU Invitational in Cary, NC, over the weekend finishing atop the field of five teams in the Division 1 Men’s bracket.
 
The Rattlers closed the three day invitational shooting seven under par to take first place ahead of second place Alabama State (+7),  third place North Carolina Central (+12), fourth place Prairie View (+19), and fifth place Arkansas Pine-Bluff (+21).

The Rattlers had four players finish among the top five players in the D1 Division with Patrick Jean-Pierre leading the way (-4), followed by Marcus Taylor (-2) and Patrick Mwendapole (-1). Jonathan Scott (E) finished tied for fifth.
 
 
Bowling team places 14th
The FAMU Bowling team wrapped up the 16-team Colonial Lanes Classic, hosted by Tulane University, with a 14th place finish and a total team score of 12,286 and a 178.1 average per contest.   The Rattlers bested fellow SWAC foes Prairie View (15th)  and Jackson State (16th).
 
North Carolina A&T won the Classic with a total pinfall of 14,096. The Aggies averaged 210.4 per game over 67 games during the three-day tournament.
