FAMU women’s basketball team picked up their first win of the season, yesterday, by downing the Jacksonville University Dolphins 59-54 in an afternoon game in the Al Lawson Center. The victory gave first-year coach Bridgett Gordon her first career win.
The Rattlers were led by grad student Ahriahna Grizzle and junior Nashani Gilbert who combined contributed 36 points for FAMU. Senior Peryonna Sylvester chipped in 11 points off the bench.
FAMU forced 33 Jacksonville turnovers that led to 32 points for the Rattlers.
The Rattlers were far from perfect as they committed 28 turnovers themselves.
The Rattlers improved to 1-4 on the season and now travel to Huntsville, Tx to take on Sam Houston State on December 1.
