FAMU recently purchased the former FAMU Credit Union Building, which is located on just north of Lee Hall and next to the School of Allied Health Sciences (SAHS) at 1550 Melvin Street, for $641,000.
The 3,650 sq ft, two-story building will become a Health Professions Learning Center, and could also serve as a health clinic to treat members of the community.
The School of Allied Health Sciences consist of six academic divisions and nine programs and enrolls over 1,400 students.
FAMU used a portion of its federal Title III funds to make the purchase. The university plans to make renovate the building and expects to building by August 2024.
