In a remarkable turn of events, FAMU men’s and women’s basketball teams secured victories in their respective home games at the Lawson Center, Saturday, marking the first time this season both squads clinched home wins on the same day.
The FAMU women's team triumphed over conference rival Alabama State with a hard-fought score of 70-66. Meanwhile, the men's team registered a significant 73-65 victory against the Hornets, breaking a challenging six-game losing streak.
For the men's team, the win not only marked a crucial breakthrough but also improved their season record to 5-20, with a conference standing of 3-11 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC). This victory holds even more significance as it came after a month-long drought.
On the other hand, the women's team continued to demonstrate their competitive prowess, elevating their season record to 8-17, with a solid 7-7 standing in the SWAC. Their victory showcased their resilience and determination on the court, solidifying their position as formidable contenders within the conference.
Both teams are back in action, at home, Monday evening against Alabama A&M.
