FAMU softball coach Camise Patterson has been named the eighth head softball coach at Alabama State University. The announcement, made yesterday, marks a new chapter for Patterson, who has been turning heads with her success at FAMU.

Patterson, who took over the FAMU softball program in 2023, and quickly made her mark. In just her second season at the helm, she led the Rattlers to a first-place finish in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) East Division. The team's record improved dramatically under her guidance, from 20-24 (13-11 SWAC) in 2023 to an impressive 26-20 (19-5 SWAC) in 2024.

Her impact was recognized not just within the FAMU community but across the conference. In June, Patterson was named WeCoach of the month, and she later secured the prestigious 2024 SWAC Coach of the Year award. These accolades are a testament to her ability to lead and inspire her team to achieve excellence on the field.

The move to Alabama State University comes at a time when the Hornets are looking to revitalize their softball program.

Patterson's departure from FAMU leaves big shoes to fill.
