The impending arrival of Hurricane Helene has led to the postponement of FAMU's Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) football game against the Alabama A&M Bulldogs this Saturday, the game has been rescheduled for Friday, November 29, due to the potential Category 3 hurricane.

In a statement released by the university, Interim Athletics Director Michael Smith emphasized the safety and well-being of student-athletes, coaches, and staff as the top priority. "Given the uncertainty surrounding Hurricane Helene, we feel it is in everyone's best interest to reschedule the game," Smith said.

SWAC Championship or bust
This decision marks a significant change for both teams, as Saturday's game was set to be FAMU's first and only home game in September. Both the Rattlers and the Bulldogs currently hold a 2-2 record, and the postponement could have implications for both teams eligibility for the FCS Playoffs.  The new date would mean that neither team  would be eligible for an at-large NCAA bid should they not qualify for the SWAC Championship.

The university and athletic department will continue to monitor the storm situation and provide updates as necessary to ensure the safety and well-being of the community during this challenging time.
