The FAMU Rattlers continued their dominant home performance with a resounding 52-28 victory over the Texas Southern Tigers in a Week 10 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) showdown at Bragg Memorial Stadium. The win not only solidified the Rattlers' position in the SWAC standings but also extended their home win streak to 23 games, the second-longest active streak in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS).
The Rattlers, now standing at 5-3 overall and 3-1 in the SWAC, showcased a well-rounded performance, outgaining the Tigers 531-164 in front of a sold-out crowd of 23,271. FAMU's offense was particularly impressive, amassing 531 total yards and never trailing Texas Southern throughout the game.
Quarterback Daniel Richardson led the offensive charge, completing 25 of 33 passes for 267 yards and five touchdowns, with only two interceptions. His performance was instrumental in securing FAMU's first 50-point game since November 2, 2019, when they defeated Delaware State 52-30.
Defensively, the Rattlers were equally impressive, harassing the Texas Southern offense with four sacks by four different players and an interception by defensive back Jordan Cumberbatch. This marked a significant improvement for the FAMU defense, which has been a key factor in their recent successes.
The victory was particularly sweet as it marked the Rattlers' sixth consecutive homecoming win, a testament to their strength and resilience at home.
The Rattlers' next challenge will be on the road, when they travel to play SWAC foe Prairie View A&M next week, but for now, they can celebrate a dominant performance and a home win streak that is the envy of the FCS.
