The FAMU Rattlers (4-3, 2-1 SWAC) are gearing up for a pivotal homecoming game against the Texas Southern Tigers (3-4, 2-2 SWAC) at Bragg Memorial Stadium this afternoon at 4 pm. With a 22-game home winning streak on the line, the Rattlers are determined to maintain their dominance on their home turf and continue their winning streak against the Tigers, whom they've defeated in their last four encounters.

Head Coach James Colzie III, speaking at the weekly press conference, underscored the significance of homecoming for the team, the program, and the university. He emphasized the need to stay focused amidst the festivities, stating, "We can't have any slip-ups or anything that will negate our opportunity to continue to move up in the standings."

The Texas Southern Tigers are expected to pose a significant challenge, particularly with their versatile quarterback system leading a balanced offensive attack. Coach Colzie noted the Tigers' ability to exploit mismatches and keep defenses guessing, highlighting the need for his team to be prepared for a well-rounded offensive strategy.

The Rattlers' defense has shown marked improvement, with three consecutive games featuring forced turnovers. Coach Colzie praised the team's execution on both sides of the ball, emphasizing the defense's growing chemistry and positioning. He expressed confidence in the team's potential to play a complete game, stating, "I still feel we haven't played a complete game yet, and I think we'll be really scary once we do."

Special teams standout and receiver Jamari Gassett is one player to watch, having had a breakout performance last week. Coach Colzie highlighted Gassett's impact on offense and in the return game, noting, "He does special things with the football." The Rattlers plan to capitalize on Gassett's scoring potential by getting him the ball creatively.

The Rattlers are well aware of the Tigers' determination, especially with Texas Southern's Head Coach Cris Dishman reportedly motivated by being chosen as the homecoming opponent. Coach Colzie responded with respect for his counterpart, acknowledging the Tigers' recent success and the challenges they pose.

The Rattlers won last year's match up 31-21 in a come from behind victory in Houston.
