You may recall, in February that FAMU employed the Hollins Group $250,000 to conduct Dean searches for SBI, Law, Education, Pharmacy, and Nursing. That comes out to about $50,000 for each search. See: Hollins Group

Well, the University recently completed interviews for the deanship at the School of Nursing (SoN). This search turned up a total of six candidates, four of whom are already on the FAMU SoN faculty. Another of the candidates was all the way from Florida State University. The sixth candidate is the Dean of the Tennessee State University SoN. See: Nursing Candidates

FAMU hopes to fill each of these vacancies by July 1, 2006.

  1. Wow, we can find $50,000 to locate deanship candidates in our backyard but no money for student recruitment.

Castell Bryant's spending decisions do not add up. The Florida Legislature should investigate the extravagant waste of taxpayer money that FAMU's BOT is permitting.

  4. There is more than meets the eye on this contract with the Hollins Group. Doesn't it seem like we should have at least received a discount for having them search for 5 deans??? That's a lot of volume for one search firm. Has anyone seen this contract? Something isn't right about this. Just my thoughts.
