Several campus buildings will begin sporting new names on the morning of Feburary 23rd. The new names which were formally approved by the 2006 Legislature will be dedicated in one big ceremony.

The new names reflect a "who's who" of FAMU and Florida history. The naming ceremonies will be followed by the Black History Month Convocation.

Among the new names are:

The Walter L. Smith (Architecture) Building

The Margret Lewis/Jacqueline Beck (Nursing) Building

The Carrie P. Meek/James Eaton Black Archives

The Sybil C. Mobley (Business) Building

The Herb F. Morgan (Engineering) Building (named Jan. 11, 2007)

  1. The Sybil C. Mobley Building is good news and well deserved.

Interestingly, she did not want the building named for her while she was still dean, but no other name could ever go on that building.
