Another one bites the dust!

Rattler Nation has learned that Trustee Leerie Jenkins has tendered his resignation today.

In a letter to Board of Governors Chair Carolyn Roberts, Jenkins wrote, that he had been comtemplating quiting the FAMU Board for a year and half, but stayed on to see the presidential search process through and to support Castell Bryant and the positive changes that she was bringing about.

Mr. Jenkins was among the six trustees who did not vote for incoming president James Ammons. Jenkins is the fifth of the six trustees who voted against Mr. Ammons to either be replaced or resign since Feburary.

  3. that's what the hell I'm talking about. The letters have worked. Hell-f*cking-yeah.

"I thought about quitting 18 months ago, but felt the need to stick a dildo up FAMU's youknowwhat just before I resigned"

Now we just have to make sure Crist doesn't give us any scrubs.

  8. what in the **** is the preacher man still doing on the board of trustees? just because he voted for ammons does that mean he is qualified? no no!

  9. Man everyone knows he cut a deal. You saw how he was wheeling and dealing with ole boy Corbin.

His boy Wright is being investigated by the SCLC after he tried to out the sitting president; another Castell supporter. Man these jack-legged preachers get on my nervces.

  10. 8:14, was it really necessary to be so crass? We realize that Jenkins' exit is cause for celebration, but you really could have saved the corrupt comment for a private conversation with someone; it wasn't necessary to be so brutish.

  11. RB Holmes needs to pack up and leave as well. He was so in Castell's corner and supported every move the woman made. It's only been in the last couple months that he decided to switch tactics. I don't trust him for one second.

  12. Getting rid of Laura Branker needs to be our top priority for now. She's the only member of the "Gang of 6" who's still trying to hold on. She needs to give up and get lost.

    Why do you doubt me?

  14. dr. ammons doesnt need a bunch of yes men...how is that good for FAMU. I welcome him butt his wont be a carte blanche type of thing going on. FAMU doesnt deserve that!

you act like that was good under Castell?

the diference between Ammons and Castell is that, he has good intentions. Castell never did.

  16. Who said anyone wants yes men around them The point is that those "dearly" departed BOT members allowed and supported, yes I mean allowed and supported, Castell's mean spirited and hateful ways of administering this University. We are talking about mean spiritedness, not about civic disagreement.

By the way, the next administration hopefully wants "true" men and women working in the inner circle, not fairy-tales.

  17. My interactions with Branker lead me to believe she is a younger version of Castell. I found her brash and disconnected.

  18. Is Joseph Wright still defending Castell? Is he still comparing the faculty who criticized her to crack-dealers?

    What an ignorant, backwards, know-nothing.

  19. Are you speaking about Joseph Wright, former president of the NAA?

  20. Pamela Duncan supported her until almost the end, right along with Holmes and she gots to go too!

  21. what did Wright say, exactly? Also, I think perhaps one dissenter from the old Castell regime needs to remain on the board. A board needs a little dissension sometimes; we can't all be "yes" folk, carte blanching everything. That's what happened when CVB was running things: folks just let the woman get away with murder, hardly questioning anything she said or did, until, of course, near the end when she tried to give away the E-School. A board a diversity of opinions. And, no, I'm no fan of Castell Bryant's. In line with everyone else, I was glad, overjoyed, ecstatic to see her get on I-75, knowing that she is far, far away from the university that she so attempted to kill off.

  22. Uhhh, no. That would be Joseph Webster.

No one's asking for "yes" folk. We're simply asking for responsible trustees. Laura Branker is completely irresponsible. She voted for Thelma Thompson despite the fact that Thompson's financial audits at UMES were at disaster.

Good trustees who have FAMU's best interests at heart will be fair and supportive to President Ammons while also asking tough questions and holding him accountable. Branker does not meet those qualifications by a long shot.

  24. Branker, it's your time to resign! Could you just get on with it?

  25. Branker, time for you to go.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Trustee Jenkins need to lobby the rest of his former board members to bounce also.

    ReplyDelete
  27. So why do you think she's hanging around? Does she have any friends on the BOT? Duncan maybe?

    ReplyDelete
  28. i think maybe she's hanging around b/c girlF's stubborn. I also reckon that she's just got that kind of stick-to-things-no-matter-what attitude, sort of a difiant-type personality. She had a former boss, Jeb Bush, who was keen on doing things his way, so coupled with her personality and Jeb's teachings, I guess she's determined to tough it out until something better, like another serious board offer in another venue, comes along. That's pretty much all I can come up with: attitude + politics = a-don't-mess-with-me, hellified "sista."
