The ESPN family of networks, magazine, and web portals, recently held its first corporate recruitment day at the FAMU School of Journalism and left with four students in tow.

Two FAMU students Danon Bell (pictured), and Serge Beaubrun were offered full-time jobs by the network, while two others were offered internships. Beaubrun, a Spring 2007 graduate, began with ESPN Studio Productions in November 2007. Bell, a December 2007 graduate, will join ESPN's Production Operations team on Monday (Jan. 14).

Broadcast seniors Mark Washington and A’sia Horne-Smith were offered spring internships. They begin Jan. 28. Horne-Smith will work as an editing intern for ESPN productions and work on marquee programs such as “SportsCenter.”

At least FAMU eight students were flown to ESPN headquarters in Bristol, Conn. for follow-up interviews. Several more are scheduled for second interviews during the spring semester. “Others we met may be hires or interns for the future,” said Tony Valentio, ESPN manager of Technical Recruitment.
