The FAMU College of Law has established a new center specializing in research, training and advocacy in the international and comparative law of developing nations.
The law school's Center for International Law and Justice is being developed and directed by Jeremy Levitt, associate dean for international programs and distinguished professor of international law. Levitt, a former World Bank official and United Nations consultant, came to FAMU from Florida International University College of Law.
The center's initiatives include an international human rights law fellowship program, international law internships, study abroad opportunities, and a distinguished professor and scholar program focusing on international law issues.
Other plans involve offering a certificate in human rights and global justice, offering an annual lecture on human rights and global justice by a noted lawyer, academician or policymaker and an annual student international law essay contest, addressing an issue of global concern and open to all College of Law students.
