North Carolina Central University scored 10 unanswered
points in the final six minutes, including the game-winning 20-yard field goal
by freshman
Nigel Macauley, as the Eagles rallied for a 27-24 victory over
Florida A&M University on Saturday at Bragg Memorial Stadium in
Tallahassee, Fla.
FAMU (0-6, 0-3 in MEAC) had four possessions in the fourth
quarter, but didn’t register a first down after punting three times and then losing
a fumble on the game’s final play.
The loss gave FAMU its first-ever 0-6 start in the history of
the football program.

MEAC) first win over FAMU since beating Rattlers 9-3 on Sept. 15, 1973 in
Atlanta, Ga. It was also NCCU's first win over FAMU in Tallahassee. FAMU
won the two prior meetings. FAMU still leads the series 6-2-1 since the teams’ first
meeting in 1939.
