FAMU recently played host to a three-day Annual Technical Meeting of the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), in collaboration with the Minority Serving Institution Partnership (MSIPP) and Tribal Education Partnership Program (TEPP). The group met under the theme "Empowering the Future Workforce," aimed to bolster the NNSA's mission of fostering sustainable career pathways for a diverse pool of talented students.

The event commenced on Tuesday, April 9, drawing notable representatives from the White House and the NNSA to FAMU's campus. FAMU leads a consortium of minority serving institutions in an $11 million in NNSA grant to bolster research capacity, elevate the number of minority graduates, and cultivate post-doctoral students poised to join the technical and scientific workforce of the NNSA Nuclear Security Enterprise.

Representatives from NNSA's national laboratories, including Lawrence Livermore, Los Alamos, and Oak Ridge were also on hand. Notably, FAMU President Larry Robinson, previously worked at Oak Ridge before joining the university.

The Annual Technical Meeting served as a dynamic platform for fostering collaboration, sharing insights, and charting strategies to bridge gaps in the nuclear security workforce. With a focus on inclusivity and excellence, FAMU continues to champion initiatives that propel students from underrepresented communities into the forefront of scientific and technical fields, thus advancing the nation's security objectives.
