The FAMU Rattlers football team, currently standing at 6-5 overall and 4-3 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC), are set to face Alabama A&M (6-5/ 4-2 SWAC) in their season finale this Friday at Bragg Memorial Stadium. While the game may not have championship implications, it holds significant importance for the team, especially for the seniors who are looking to end their collegiate careers on a high note.
Head coach James Colzie III emphasized the importance of sending the seniors off with a win. "That’s priority one," he said. "Getting a win also sets the tone for what’s to come for the Rattlers next season. There’s a lot of positives for this football team. You get a chance to finish with seven wins, you put yourself in a higher range in regards to how you finish the season in the conference. There’s a lot of different things. We can go into recruiting. Having that seven wins speaks to the program at a different level compared to some of the other teams in the conference."
The Rattlers have had a solid season, and a win against Alabama A&M would not only be a fitting end for the seniors but also a strong foundation for the upcoming season. Coach Colzie believes that finishing with seven wins would elevate the program's standing and make a positive impact on future recruiting efforts.
The game is scheduled for Friday, November 29, 2024, at Bragg Memorial Stadium. Fans are encouraged to come out and support the Rattlers as they look to close out the season with a victory.
