February 07, 2006

SBI is moving a couple of steps closer to getting permanent leadership, as the University will bring five candidates to campus for interviews between February 8- 27.
The candidates are Dr. D.T. Ogilvie, Dr. Bahaman Mirshab, Dr. Charles Evans, Dr. Syrous K. Kooros and Dr. Niranjan Pati.
The candidates will tour SBI and Tallahassee. Then meet with SBI students, alumni, administrative and professional staff and faculty and the Council of Academic Deans. Candidates will also meet with Provost Debra Austin and Interim President Castell Bryant.
The search committee is being led by Rondner Wright. Committee members include: Barbara Mosely, Vera Harper, Shirley Burggraf, Roscoe Hightower, Phillip Agnew (SGA VP), Shawnta Friday-Stroud, and Reginald Beal.
SBI has been without permanent leadership since founding Dean Sybil Mobley retired in June 2002, despite the fact that she gave "the U" two years notice. In January, Dr. Patrick R. Liverpool was appointed "Consulting Dean" of School of Business and Industry. Mr. Liverpool came to FAMU from Delaware State University where he served as the Dean and MBNA America Professor of the School of Management.
We'll tell you a little bit more about who these candidates are and where they come from.
Dear Dr. Wright,
ReplyDeleteAs students we have been given the opportunity to meet with the
candidates for dean of SBI when they come to Florida A&M's campus for
interviews. It is our unwavering concern that this student interview
process (which we are preparing for and are taking very seriously) is
purely a facade and lacks any opportunity to truly impact the final
selection process.
BINGO! Give the writer of these sentiments a prize. The students are no longer considered stakeholders by this administration.
