FAMU Negotiating in Bad Faith

FAMU's faculty should not be looking for that 2% raise in their paychecks today. It seems the raise has been indefinitely stalled pending negotiations with the UFF and AFSCME.

When the 2% "proposal" was announced the UFF bargaining team asked to meet with the BOT bargaining team to discuss the BOT's proposal and the one previously advanced by the UFF. A series of three meetings beginning yesterday were scheduled, by both parties, to take place at the offices of the BOT's Chief Negotiator.

Yesterday when the UFF team arrived at the offices of the BOT's Chief Negotiator they were told that the meeting had been cancelled. While the UFF team had not been notified in advance, the BOT team had been given 24 hr. notice of the cancellation. We ran this scenario by a labor lawyers who termed the tactic as "bad-faith bargaining".

Rattler Nation has learned, that such unprofessional behavior on the part of the BOT bargaining team has occurred several times over the past two years.

  1. Disappointed when I open my envelop and did not see the pay increase reflected in my salary warrant.

The interim president and BOT have lost all creditability with me.

  3. Now I understand why my salary warrant did not reflect my raise. No raises for DRS.
