The total number of baccalaureate graduates FAMU produced from the 2003-04 school year to the 2004-05 school year dropped by 17%, according to the latest issue of Diverse Issues in Higher Education (formerly Black Issues in Higher Education).
While this is really no surprise given that the University's corresponding enrollment has also decreased over the same period.
For the 2003-04 school year FAMU graduated a total of 1,522 African American students, while in 2004-05 that number had dropped to 1,262. African Americans accounted for 96% of the University's baccalaureate graduates.
FAMU was still able to hang on to the #1 spot in the magazine's latest rankings, head of Howard University, by only 86 students.
During this same period, the number of business graduates at FAMU fell by 25%, from 374 to 279. FAMU went from #1 to #8 in the Diverse Issues ranking.
