For the 6-3 Rattlers to have any chance at post season play this year they will have to win their final two games and get a lot of help. Experts suggest that an 8-3 Rattler team that has played an all Division I schedule, including a lost to the U of Miami (FL), could be a contender in a watered down at-large field.
The "Cardiac Kids" have two regular season games remaining. This week's game against league leading Hampton and a Nov. 18th match up against, the always tough, Bethune-Cookman in the Florida Classic.
While Hampton is favored, a hot Florida A & M team playing at home certainly has a chance to pull off the upset. The Rattlers have rebounded nicely this season with wins in six of the last seven games after starting with an 0-2 record. Florida A & M has just gotten by at times with a pair of overtime victories and a one-point win, but has shown the ability to move the ball through the air. Quarterback Albert Chester II (1,594 yards, 13 TD/5 INT) has enjoyed a solid season, and comes off a brilliant performance with 21-of-25 passing for three touchdowns in a 45-12 win over North Carolina A & T. He leads an offense that averages 358 yards per game, and has the potential to be potent against the Hampton defense.
Last weeks win over NC A&T has already guaranteed the Rattlers a winning season this year. But, hard to please Rattler fans are never satisfied with six wins.
The Game: Florida A & M (6-3, 4-2) -vs- No. 11 Hampton (9-1, 6-1) , Nov. 11th, 6:00 p.m., Bragg Stadium
The date of the game is incorrect:
