Faculty members approved their first new contract since the FAMU board of trustees became their employer in 2003.
The vote was 199-0 in favor of the new contract, which lasts till 2009. The new contract provides for a one-whole-percent raise and a 0.5 percent signing bonus.

Professors to get pay raise
A raise??? Yowsa! PLUS a signing bonus? I think I'll spend my new one percent increase on that elusive trip to the Carribbean that I've been putting off for fifteen years. Gotta go! Let me call my travel agent right now!
ReplyDeleteTo this faculty member it isn't about the raise. Hands were laid on many of the vital university institutions, yet despite the "SBI 8" and a "ghost employee" or two, the predicted wholesale program cutting and faculty layoff's did not materialized.
ReplyDeleteWith two months to go it's still a little too early yet but one would venture to say that the faculty stuck together and did not break!
After holding out so long, it was surprising that Dr. Bryant and team would not go the distance. I guess they could not let a new team get the credit.
Wow! That's great for faculty. What about USPS and A&P? Where are the raises for that group that works just as hard and is just as supportive?
ReplyDeleteI hope the USPS fair as well as the Faculty.
ReplyDeleteGreat job! Castell and crew tried, but they didn't break the faculty union.
you know cassie was none too pleased about "losing" and having things go her way. the staff at the university works just as hard and is deserving as well.
ReplyDeleteI have to concur. Not taking anything away from the professors, but USPS and A&P staff are just as deserving of a raise as well. Share the love Castell.
