Despite her recent memo saying that she has imposed a moratorium on hiring new personnel, it seems that interim president Castell Bryant is still looking to make a few more hires. This time she's looking to hire a Director of Advancement, to indentify, cultivate, solicit, and raise money from corporations, foundations, state and federal sources.
This is something, she nor Ron "I like fireworks" Joe has been unable to do. However, with Mrs. Bryant's days at FAMU numbered, this seems like a hire the new president should make.
Note, the job was posted February 12, 2007, more than a week after Mrs. Bryant's memo promising to not make any significant hires.

ReplyDeleteDamn, these trustees can lie!
Why did we hire a new president if this fool is hiring his team?
ReplyDeleteAnd Castell said, "The hiring portion (moratorium) of this process has been in place for two month."
ReplyDeleteWe have the dumbest BOT in the whole state of florida.
And an interim president that has nothing on the White House when it comes to lying and making up siht along the way.
ReplyDeletethere are small town Mississippi church trustee boards that are better than this board.

HEYYYYYYYYY GIVE US MORE!
Let me see..hmmmmmmmmm Dr. Bryant has fired/released/laid off/whatever it is, more than 200 employees since she came. She has this long behind list of vacant positions. Perhaps some of those people she "released because their services were no longer available" could get one of the 50 positions she has posted since the moratorium. hmmmmmmmmmmmm
ReplyDeleteLet's see... What is a moratorium? It is a suspension of activity... freeze.
GUESS WHAT, Trustees! This is NOT a moratorium.
We should put a moratorium on Dr. Bryant's leadership. (ROTFL)

Oh, she cussed her out for advertising that position after she (CVB) sent out the freeze memo. Castell said this makes her look bad.

ReplyDeleteYelp, he pulled this number on FSH, along with changing the locks, and stealing the china and silver for entertaining. His wife still has that huge beautiful punch bowl from the old Home Economics program that Walter Lee gave to FSU.

OH MY! What should Dr. Bryant do? Something has made her look bad with this stellar administration she has shown us.
OH MY! OH MY! ROTFL

ReplyDeleteThe job in question in the article was initially posted in 8/06 ... And apparently is being RE-posted (And rightfully so - Because just who do they think they are going to get to do this at $38K?)
AND - Just because these job ads went out desn't necessarily mean SHE plans on doing any hiring on ANY of them ... Just beginning the search for applicants for the NEW President to choose from.
"Quitcha B****in! AGAIN!" ... And get your BOT to hurry up, and get a contract for the New Guy!
^^^^^^^^^^^
ReplyDeleteAs usual, you pop up and don't know what fukk you are talking about.
Dr. Greenleaf,
As you can see we have a problem!
Why were positions posted for hiring AFTER I met with the Leadership Team on Tuesday, February 6 and provided you with a copy of the memo that I send to BOT Monday, February 5th? I am sure you understood the memo because we had a discussion about the intent. Please clean this up NOW and provide me with (1) Actions taken, and (2) What I can expect from the Office of Human Resources for the remaining days of my tenure.
==========================
Castell V. Bryant, Ed.D.
Interim President
Florida A&M University
400 Lee Hall
Tallahassee, FL 32307
(850) 599-3225
(850) 561-2152 fax
I would as far as to add that every one of her direct hires should have received this memo, NOT just Greenleaf. These positions cover the spectrum of the VP's for University Relations, Student Affairs, Administrative/Fiscal Affairs, and Sponsored Research. In order to advertise these positions, these VP's had to sign off on them before Greenleaf advertised them.
The new president doesn't need any assistance from Madame President, he'll choose the time when he wants to hire for his new administration.
ReplyDeleteCastell has done enough of hiring, firing and not paying people. I predict it will probably take a decade to figure out this mess, how deeply embbeded this mess is and the less painful way to clean the mess up without further damaging the university's already shredded image.
We have the dumbest BOT in the whole state of florida.

4:53---What did Janie get shouted down about? I thought she and Greenleaf were ace boons. Does anyone know about hits situation and can inform those of us who do not?
ReplyDeleteRN--you know y'all be on it. THANKS for keeping us in the sunshine!
ReplyDeleteCastell needs someone to proofread her writing before she gets to sending it out to folks. That "send" in her horribly written memo should have been in the past tense, as in "sent." Of course, the woman would never admit to not knowing such a small thing as using correct tense.
ReplyDeleteStop the madness folks. Any one who has been hired at FAMU can tell you it takes months before you are actually hired. There is nothing wrong with posting jobs and soliciting resumes and having them available. Secondly, do you really believe that Presidents hire custodians? Many of these jobs are low level jobs and the responsiblity of the hiring manager.
ReplyDeleteIf you as a president are concerned about who was hired as a custodian, you obviously do not have enough to do.
Many of these positions have been open for some time. For those that have been posted in February, the positions may not close for 2 months. I doubt seriously if many of these people will be on board before the new president.
As the new president, I would want these postings to go forward. However, certain key positions interviews I would participate in or ask to view resumes and at least phone screen them. Also, I doubt if there will be any offers extended for key positions before the new president comes on board.
Of all of the jobs posted, there are only 10 (may be) worth waiting on the new president. Do we really believe a president cares about secreataries, HVAC mechanics, coordinators etc. Even the faculty positions are hires of the Deans and I doubt if many of those positions will change any time this year. Get a life folks....
Castell has a history of hiring incompetent administrators. No, she should not even be trusted to hire custodians or mechanics.
ReplyDeleteThe hiring moratorium should and must stay in place until Castell has gone away for good!
I guess Eddie Jackson is no longer writing Cast-Hell's scripts for her. Maybe he got fed up, too!
