Castell's got some explaining to do before Legislators

The Florida Legislature's Joint Leislative Auditing Committee, on Friday, called Interim President Castell Bryant to appear before it on this coming Monday, March 5, 2007 at 12:00 noon, in Room 309 of the Capitol. Mrs. Bryant is being asked to provide an update to the Auditor General's Audit of the University, Report No. 2007-007, and address the current payroll problems at the University.

Off the record, state auditors have complained that FAMU takes to long to respond to their request and hampers their ability to complete audits in a timely manner. Also, there is the general belief that Mrs. Bryant deceived the committee on the status of the university during her last visit.

Local FAMU Alumni in the area should sit in on the committee meeting to see what goes down.

  1. Yeah, buddy! At last, Castell has to answer to someone. And the great and wonderful thing about this is that she doesn't get to evade questions and pick and choose those questions she simply wishes to respond to. Finally, we might be able to get to the root of some of her shennanigans! I do believe those chickens are coming home to roost.

  2. And why, pray tell, do you think that she's NOT gonna lie/play the blame game in front of them like she has in the past with others??

They need to blackball her ass in the state of Florida for being so damned incompetent. NOW y'all see why the former MDCC (now MDC) was so thrilled to pass her sorry as off onto us.

  3. Castell and her CO (troups)is in the office right now putting together and scheming and on how to pull the wool over the legislative committee's eyes. She is an outrageous liar and fake. Do you think Herb Bailey is going to help her out of this shit. Of course his breath will blow them all way. He is just as incompetent as Castell (and to think this want-to-be) CPA is making $110,000 per year, faking as a budget director. Miami-Dade need to be closed down for even allowing Castell to walk their halls. It is our hope that she gets tripped up when she starts to tell her lies and I bet Lizzie and Low-Low will be trailing behind her, and maybe Debbie-dough-dough, and Altha tired A-S-S.

  4. Little does she know that they've already got the inside skinny on her and her crew. She gon' be one surprised ass--- IF she shows up! If I were her, I'd resign in about 5 minutes from now and hit I-10 to I-75, then south.

  5. The Grand Dame will appear before the Joint Legislative Audit Committee on Monday, March 5:

Update by Dr. Castell Bryant, Interim President, Florida Agricultural
and Mechanical University, to Auditor General's Audit of the University
Report No. 2007-007, and to the Current Problems Relating to the
    Payroll Process at the University

Wanna bet that she blames this audit and the payroll problems on FSH?

    $20 says she does.

  7. 6:48--Did I say the woman was not gonna lie/play the blame game with these people? Did I say that? No, I did not. Re-read my comments. What I said was that the woman does not get to "pick and choose" what she wants to answer and she doesn't get to evade questions. Now, how the committee members who are doing the questioning choose to react to her evasiveness is up to them, but never did I say that the woman would not lie and play any kind of game. And Miami Dade Community College was not "thrilled to pass her off" to us. The woman was retired when she accepted the interim presidency. So she wasn't "passed" off to anyone. Additionally, I believe the investigative committee who will conduct the sessions will be more thorough than other bodies have been in their questioning of her. Understand? Quit trying to read something into what is not there. Damn.

  8. Castell Bryant has lied and schemed so much over the past two years until she probably believes the lies she tells. You know that can happen sometimes, when a person loses touch with reality. I believe the legislative committee charged with questioning her on the payroll fiasco/debacle are one hundred steps ahead of her on this one, and the minute she gets to pointing fingers and blaming everyone except her grandmother, she'll see that she isn't as grand and smart as she believes she is. She has lied and duped and just generally been dishonest since the day she set foot on the campus, and I, for one, am simply a happy camper to see that she now is going before a legal and legislative body who believe that she must account for the madness and mayhem that she has created since her tenure at the university. I wonder if that ol' Challis woman will come to her defense when she gets in a jam or whether or not she will point her old wrinkly fingers at Fred Humphries for the mess that she's placed the university in. Praise God for her (at least) being called on the carpet, whether anything comes of it or not. I'm glad as hell that the carpet-calling comes so quickly that she doesn't have a bunch of time to create more lies. There is a God.

  9. ALERT! RN - Since "Castell's got some explaining to do before Legislators," can you verify this information below before the Tallahassee Democrat does? That may be my next contact. Since she's going to be at the Legislator on Monday, perhaps we can send Senator Lawson other information that they can ask her about?

    1. Vincent June, V.P. for Student Affairs has given the Director of Student Health Services his 60 days notice. (I don't want to call this doctor's name here). Staff in this department are livid! His last day was Friday, 3/2/07.

    2. June changed the personnel rules at the last minute, and even though he was the person's direct supervisor, he had Tim Wise, the Associate V.P. to give this GREAT DOCTOR an evaluation, and June signed off on it as the reviewer. Wise has not been this person's supervisor THIS YEAR, he is not listed in Personnel as the person's direct supervisor, but he was the one who did the evaluation.

    3. If June had evaluated the person, then Dr. Bryant would have had to be the reviewer, and she didn't want her name attached to it. (Wonder why? Possible law suit?)

    4. June paid some firm $10,000 for one day of an evaluation of the health services office back in early January, and the director's firing was based on this (by the way, Wise gave him a few hours to leave the building). June and Wise have refused to provide this medical doctor with a copy of the report that this firing was based on. Did I say REFUSED TO PROVIDE A COPY OF THE REPORT? June took the money to pay for the evaluation from this director's budget, without his knowledge or approval. Because of that, June has not provided this medical doctor an opportunity to "clean up or do a corrective action plan" to anything that may have been found on the report. JUNE - DID YOU AND GREENLEAF SHRED THIS DOCUMENT ALSO?

    5. Wise, nor June had provided this person with any type of interim "You're not doing a good job evaluation" prior to last Friday.

    6. THIS MAJOR PERSONNEL ACTION WAS DONE JUST ONE WEEK BEFORE THE NEXT BOT MEETING CONFIRMING DR. AMMONS. (Coincidence?)

Sidebar: Do you think June could have presented that report and recommendation to dismiss this (MAJOR ADMINISTRATOR) to Dr. Ammons on June 15th, when he met with him for the first (and only) time to give an update of the Student Affairs division. YES! JUNE! That will be your ONLY day meeting with Dr. Ammons!!!!!

    7. If all of the above is true (and I'm sure it is), would anyone like to venture on how much FAMU is going to have to pay this medical doctor because of Vincent G. June's rancorous (he's had a grudge against this man from the beginning and the staff in Health Services knew this from statements June had made), prejudice (the doctor is a MAN and NOT Black) and just dim-witted decisions(plain stupid)?

Dr. June and Dr. Wise - As you read this, please know that WE WILL NOT stand by and allow you to hurt this man out of your vindictiveness. We will be contacting the Governor's Office for an investigation.

RN - You want to respond to this first?

  12. It's ironic that "High Noon" is the time Castell has to appear before any kind of committee that has the authority to "shoot her to high noon heaven." It's ironic because she's always talking about her cowboy movies that she lovesssssssss to watch, and in t.v. cowboy history, this is the time that gun men usually show up for a showdown.

What ya'll think? Who's going to win this battle? ROTFL

All I know is...... she better come ready to "whip out her weapons" because this GROUP IS READY FOR HER!

Cassie..... tell Vincent and Rufus, they are next.

    hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah

  13. Didn't Dr. Bryant claim that she had placed a moratorium on hiring and firing? That should be the first point of your argument. This personnel decision regarding the Director of Health Services should be left to Dr. Ammons.

  14. Anonymous 1:13 said, "This personnel decision regarding the Director of Health Services should be left to Dr. Ammons"

EXACTLY! That's a major personnel decision at this point in the game.

Unless his presence at the University was a threat to anyone's health (no pun intended) and wellbeing, it seems that June should have waited for the new president (only 3 months away).

BAD TIMING JUNE! There's enough going on already, did you really have to add this to the university's problems?

Just another faux pas .... a gaffe.

I thought there was a moratorium on hiring and firing.

  17. Why in the hell are any of you crying about Dr. Shetty. He was an incompetent when I was in school and that was ten years ago!

He was no Dr. Feelgood...if anything he was Jekyll or Frankenstein.

The services, ambience and patient care were lack lust at best. Very little outreach!

College kids are contracting AIDS, herpes, and shit at alarming rates...is our health center doing anything to stave off these trends...I bet NOT!

June is one the one bright spot in the administration...I hope he fire some more!

So are you one of the GAY FOLLOWERS?!

You said, "College kids are contracting AIDS, herpes, and shit at alarming rates...is our health center doing anything to stave off these trends...I bet NOT!"

For your information, that Health Services Center has put on a number of trainings, seminars, etc. They participate in the national AIDS Awareness day that is held across the nations. The students can get condoms from the Center.

NOW, WHAT THE HECK DO YOU WANT DR. SHETTY OR ANYONE ELSE AT THE UNIVERSITY TO DO ABOUT THESE YOUNG PEOPLE HAVING SEX AND CONTRACTING HERPES, AIDS, ETC?

That was NOT Dr. Shetty or any other health services worker's responsibility.

Tell your friends to stop screwing so much .... and they won't have to worry about any of those things!!!!!!

    Are you concerned about AIDS?

Is June your bright spot and that is why you are defending him?

    ReplyDelete
  19. I'm also at at loss as to how Dr. Shetty could do any more to stop students from contracting STDs. All the health center can do is make information and condoms readily available.

Dr. Shetty can't make students stop having unsafe, unprotected sex.

    ReplyDelete
  20. The point I am trying to make is that the Student Health Center is no jewel and shetty has helmed the place for over a decade and when i was at A&M not long ago, the health Center was an eyesore and offered remedial health services. No dental, no lab work, nothing!

There is a responsibility to educate the young people in their charge about healthy living...moron!

The rest of that shit you said 3:19pm...fuck yourself!

  21. These young folk leave home and simply get buck wild. Dr. Shetty has absolutely NO control over what these children do. If they didn't learn anything from their parents or guardians, then they sure as heck ain' gon' listen to what Dr. Shetty (or anyone else, for that matter) has to say about being sexually promiscuous. That is SO not the man's job. If the Center disseminates information on human sexuality, then what else can it do? Be one-thousand places watching who's doing what??? Some of you people on this blog simply make no earthly sense in your comments. It's not as if these students, who can't wait to get from under the control of their parents, don't already know the risks involved in having unprotected sex. They are young and idealistic and have that "it won't happen to me" mentality. And no one can tell them much when they get off on their own.

In response to your comments about the Health Services being an eyesore... I offer the following comments:

If June thought that place was an eyesore, he should have found more space for Dr. Shetty to operate from, instead of putting thousands of dollars into decorating his office and adding lavendar accessories throughout. Guess Dr. Shetty's department was not pretty enough for him.

JUNE 15th.... June's last day at FAMU! I can't wait!!!!!!!!

    Tim and Danielle.... start packing!!
