Castell is in (way) over her (MF) head!

In his most recent "Against the Grain" column, Capital Oulook Publisher Roosevelt Wilson has scored another grand slam homer.

Specifically, Wilson said , "behind that smile and facade of competence he discovered a mean, arrogant, ruthless and vicious dictator who was in way over her head."

"Her solution to every problem is to blame someone else for it and fire him/her/them. When she couldn't blame things at her level on anyone on campus, she would, and still does, blame previous administrations. And she blamed criticism of her tyrannical style on people resisting change," Wilson added.

"Wilson laid Mrs. Bryant out so bad," I think we should all pause and have a moment of silence for the late Castell Vaughn Bryant.

  1. Damn! Did Roosevelt just lay Castell Vaughn Bryant out on her cooling board shrouded in the Capital Outlook newspaper?

  2. Ka pow! Wilson scored one to the belly!

  3. So interesting to see Wilson's hardcore change of heart over the course of this comedy. He sounds upset.

  4. Rosy (I do hope you read RN)...I love a man who can admit when he was wrong...and so eloquently at that! I forgive you and will be renewing my 'Outlook' subscribtion immediately! You really deserve a Pulitzer for your writing. You truly have the gift of self-expression! All people want is an acknowlegement of the truth, even if it hurts. Thanks for fighting the good fight!

  5. The original Outlook article needs to be emailed en masse to the members of the Board of Governors, the Legislature, and the Governor, just like all of the other "correspondence".

  6. So, Carolyn Roberts seems to be Cast-hell and Challis Lowe's alley. Are there any other members of the BOG buying into their bulldookie?

  7. I have never seen such paranoia in my life. You better hope Carolyn Roberts and the BOG does not read this article.

  8. Carolyn Roberts will definitely read the article. The BOG's staffers collect all the newspaper clippings on Florida higher ed issues and present it to the BOG at each one of its meetings.

I hope Wilson's words finally smack some sense into Roberts.

  10. Wilson has a pattern of supporting then turning on presidents, so Ammons should be leary.

When he turns, he tries to assuage the readers into thinking that he has followed his journalistic training and heart and changed because he just had to do the right thing.

No. The right thing is to do your research upfront, then you will not have to write columns admitting that you were wrong.

All you had to do was read student newspapers at the schools she presided over at first or just ask people in Miami. We could have told you that yall were dealing with a damn fool.

But no, you, Holmes, Duncan and others blindly supported this she devil.

Don't you know that the devil is known best for his/her ability to be a masterful con-artist. Wilson even pointed out her bi-polar behavior.

She duped Wilson good. Now he, as does Eddie, have egg on their faces.

  13. No wonder Dr. Padron ran her ass off from Miami-Dade.

Oh, NOOOOO. I got chided for saying this. Another poster on here claims that she "retired". You are absolutely correct in that Dr. Padron ran her incompetent behind off (forced retirement). The staffers here had enough of her vindictive controlling lying ass.

  14. And let's not forget how she ran Florida Memorial in the ground when she was interim there!

  15. To Anon @ 8:09 AM...

I gotta give you an "Amen" on the part about Eddie, RB, and Pam Duncan. At least Eddie got outta dodge early on, but RB and Pam rode that train until they, too, realized they had to live in Tallahassee and face the consequences of their actions. Now they want to feign outrage.

Where was the outrage when HUNDREDS of people were fired, no one except Cunningham was held to the fire for the payroll audit and we all KNOW he wasn't the only one, and when she slowly and methodically tried to destroyed the crown jewels of FAMU. These things did not happen overnight and they sat back and applauded her while she made these decisions.

Yeah, I appreciate RB and Pam trying to get things under control now, but if they would not have been complicit in allowing these problems to fester, we might not be in this situation now.

  16. 4:14--you need to stay away from your computer. Such derogatory language is so uncalled-for. I mean, what's the point of just spewing craziness? What have you accomplished by doing so? Offer some intelligent commentary or shut your computer down and toss it out the window. You're a dangerous person, I can tell.

  17. Good Lord, I think Rossevelt went way over the top on this one. While we know exactly where he stands on the issues re. CVB, I think as an editor, he's just a step above the Enquirer on this commentary. I know, I know, freedom of speech, of the press and all that, and I also know that Weilson owns the newspaper, so that in itself gives him the "right" to say and print what he wants. But goodness, gracious, I know the situation is critical at the university and CVB is smack dab to blame for 99.9.9% of them, but dang, Roosevelt, did you have to be that vicious?? (I must admit, however, it felt really, really good to read that column, and he hit that ball way out of the park.)

  18. Can RN confirm that Barbara Barnes is supposed to be Ammons' Provost.

Please tell me this is a vicious rumor 'cause word on the "screet" is that she is actually saying he has already promised her the job, and she has already made up her mind the changes she is gonna make.

Please tell us that this is just a rumor. It has to be.

Barbara Barnes can not possibly be a Provost. Everyone knows how she got her other positions on campus and that she is cut from the same cloth as Castell and others.

Don't even put that out there, and if she is running her mouth telling people that, then she proved my point that she will not be a good Provost. Wouldn't you want to keep that low key.

Ammons is too savvy of a leader to even call his common sense and integrity into question by making her his Provost. Can't you just see her representing FAMU on the state level and at the Board of Governors? They already think we are incompetent.

She will just be at meetings pontificating like she always does.

This has to be a flat out rumor.

You can not convince me that in his years at NC that Ammons has not learned better. If she was Provost material, he would have taken her to NC with him like he took all of those other great employees that drained FAMU and filled NC with the ability to acheive what he did.

Barbara Barnes, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.
    That doesn't even sound right.

  19. Barbara Barnes will be Ammons' provost. He has already assured many of the top leaders that they can stay on.

  20. I don't believe this!

    Stop spreading vicious rumors

  21. Stop spreading rumors.

Some people say he asked deans and vice presidents to resign. Others say that there is a list of other people who will be released. Now there is this rumor that he has named the Provost.

Give the man time to get here.

Let's focus on getting ready for him and for the next phase of FAMU's glorious history.
