  1. When castell did hiring with out a search process the rattlers went crazy. When ammons does a search process quick fast an in a hurry the rattlers love it....Pick a side and stay on it. I think the board should not approve this contract, and do a real search. This was just a mess.

  2. WOW! Defending Castell? Are you serious? Let it go here! It's about the agenda! Get a clue!

  3. To all of the complainers: FAMU is a great school coming back from some serious limitations based on the decisions of past administrations. Taylor is one of the best ECONOMICAL and WINNING moves that we could make. There are still rebuilding issues and other items that need university monies. Hampton can't be a punk school if they whipped us. This is the process. Rolle could still be contacted to be groomed as the successors but we need to bring on a winner and let them develop a strategy. We can't have EVERYTHING our way. I'm glad this is simply our opinions on this board. Give Ammons and Co. a chance to put FAMU on the right track again.

  4. You Rattlers are spoiled brats! Let your president do his job!! Support his decision instead comparing him with your previous leader. It takes some balls to lead you all!

  5. Castell's hiring decisions consistently worked to the detriment of the institution. Ammons is a seasoned university administration with a proven track record. His decisions have more credibility.

Plus, Ammons believes in shared governance and (unlike Castell) practiced this principle when he made the critical provost selection.

  6. ^^ Okay, I won't go as far as the provost search bc that is whole nother can of funky worms.

But yes, the big schools' AD usually go after the man the university wants.

Good job Mr. President and Mr. Hayes on this selection.

  7. 7:34p, great points! I believe with the right staffing support, FAMU and Coach Taylor can win the MEAC and go deep into the FCS playoffs. Taylor will require off and def coordinators experienced in the new, innovative, and winning strategies that produce VICTORIES. It will be very interesting to see which coordinators will be hired to work with Taylor. It's pretty unlikely that FBS coords like Alex Woods and Tim Walton would take a step down to FCS to coach in the same position. Besides Billy Rolle, who are some other excellent candidates for the coordinator positions from FCS, DII, and HS (App St, Ga Southern, Valdosta, Tuskegee, etc)?

  8. John Mckenzie is one of the best O/C in the HBCU. He may not have been all that great in the three years he was in charge of Delaware St, but check his record as a O/C at Jackson St, Alabama A&M and Alcorn St along with 20 yrs experience and look out. His offense's scheme are almost the same as Billy Joe but are called Showtime.

  9. There are so many economoic issues and power struggles at FAMU. Taylor is an all time great coach. I hope FAM does not destory his career with hair brained schemes and meddling. Damn, does FAM have a strength coach yet. Successful football programs start from the basics and go forward...when i was down there a few years back the strenght and conditioning job was being outsourced...let's start fom a strong established base and moveforward.
