Off topic: Kennedys back Barack

After his spectacular showing in South Carolina Saturday against Hillary Rodham Clinton, Massachusetts Sen. Ted Kennedy flanked by his brother's only surviving heir, Caroline Kennedy and others who make up the famous Kennedy clan, today endorsed Barack Obama for President of the United States.

There's something about momentum and right now, Obama has it.

Kennedy said the senator from Illinois can "transcend race" and unite the country, a Kennedy associate told the Globe. Kennedy was also impressed by Obama's deep involvement last year in the bipartisan effort to craft legislation on immigration reform, a politically touchy subject the other presidential candidates avoided, the associate said.

  1. RN, I think it makes more sense to include photos of Ted Kennedy and Caroline Kennedy, instead of a photo of the dead president, who, by the way, has been in that condition since, like, 1963. Hello? Unless, of course, he is endorsing Obama from the grave.Ted and Caroline are living and breathing. And, by the way, Toni Morrison has also endorsed Obama. (Make sure, if you carry the story, you don't put a picture of "Beloved" up there. I think she died, too.

  2. Is this good or bad, is he ready to take on a National Race that will be full of attacks?

  3. He is the only Democrat running that has any integrity. Integrity will transcend race (I hope). The Clinton attack machine is in full force. THEY are making race an issue. Where is the outrage?

  4. I am a Black American and I say the media and the Black people are making race an issue. Barack was not in the Senate when the war vote was made. Barack brought "O" out before Clinton even came out. Jessie and AL have urged Barack to favor the Black community. I am not saying that we have not had unfair treatment but we are electing a President and Barack is smart and dynamic enough to not see thing for what they are.

  5. I greatly believe in such things as constructive criticism, but I also believe that it shouldn't be done for the world to see. Try and let RN know offline if you're going to be picky about what pictures are posted on the blog, etc. so you don't make yourself look like you're whingeing. FYI, some are actually comparing Obama to JFK, so I think it would be more than appropriate to see the images posted together (i.e. there's more than one perspective to a story). RN: Some of us actually appreciate your work. Thanks for keeping us (especially those of us not in Tallahassee) informed about what's going on with the University, etc.!

  6. 3:42 you are an idiot race still matters in America and the "Good Ol Clintons" have now shown their true colors or lack thereof...Bill was a fraud when he was president and is simply showing what I have always known, that when backed in a corner white folk will always stand with white folk and will let everyone know about black folk. Obama of whom I am no fan is 10 times better than that race baiting Hillary and her husband who Toni Morrison so ignorantly called, Americas First black president. So if African Americans are to ever really gain in this foriegn land we must UNITE! Period
