This afternoon, FAMU students claimed 10 awards --- including three first place in radio and two first place in television--- at the Florida Associated Press Broadcasters Awards in Orlando, FL. FAMU students participated in the AP's college division and competed against students from UF, FGCU, U Miami, USF and others.
This is the first year that FAMU students have produced their own 5 o'clock daily TV newscast. Students from some of the schools they competed against have been doing a daily TV news show for years and some even operate their own television station, something that FAMU does not yet have.
This is the second year in a row, that the FAMU contingent won more awards than than any other university in Florida.
