One week before the start of the 2008 football season, the public face of the FAMU athletic department is still looking rather bush league.
The current site which relaunched over a month ago, was supposed to be a temporary "place holder" until FAMU built a better one. The horrible new site replaced the previous site whose domain name was owned by CBS Sports online. The current site lacks team rosters, original content, and is riddled with misspellings like the one shown above.
"This site is a disgrace," wrote one internet poster. "It should be taken down immediately."

When you Google the words "FAMU Athletics", the new horrible website doesn't even come up. The Sports information department and the IT people need to be ashamed of themselves. The first football game is next week and the FAMU Athletics website looks like it was made by some 10th graders at FAMU High.
ReplyDeleteIts 2008. YOU CAN"T HAVE A BOOTLEG WEBSITE!
8/22 @ 8:38am I would not even insult a 10th grader like that. Maybe a 6th grader's first attempt at web design.
ReplyDeleteThis website really is pathetic and should be taken down immediately. It is a poor reflection on the university. FAMU's award winning graphic design & communication department in Journalism and the CIS department could have something up in less than a week. That should be those students first assignment.
agreed. I was cool with it at first assuming it would be updated and fixed up. I did notice where it said it was a "placeholder".
ReplyDeleteThe Ammons Admin is kicking arse and taking names, I'm sure they will get this right like everything else
Not so sure about that!
ReplyDeleteDitto, 9:50 a.m.
ReplyDeleteAmmons is not going to a damn thing.Because he think hayes knows what he's doing. Which he does not, hayes don't give a damn about FAMU.
ReplyDeleteRattlers have endured worse things than a poor athletic website. This too shall pass so stop gettin all worked up for nothing!
ReplyDeleteAnyway the current website is indeed a placeholder, and the new site will not have any complaints besides the timing. That's because FAMU athletics signed a contract with ISP sports (a national sports marketing/consulting firm) a few months ago, and it'll be a couple more weeks before the ball gets to rolling.
Google ISP sports and see what they'll be offering FAMU (preview their work with other schools). Just be patient Rattler Nation, and have faith in our administration. FAMU athletics will be ascending higher heights in the very near future.

Thank God for small favors.
To everyone!!!
ReplyDeleteThe new athletics site is coming very soon! All good things come to those that wait, and BTW, it won't be done by ISP. Don't worry, it's HOT!!!!!
