FAMU students take 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place awards at NOAA competition

FAMU Environmental Sciences Institute (ESI) students did extremely well at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) 3rd Annual Combined Student Scholarship Program competition held recently at the agency's Silver Spring, MD Headquarters.

In the oral presentations Sherrita Commey placed first in ocean and coastal management; LaToya Chandler placed second in fisheries sciences; and Amari Jones placed third in meteorology and hydrology. Judith Sarkodee-Addo placed third in the poster competition.

The FAMU students were among a group of 136 undergraduate students for colleges and university's around the nation participating in the program. All participants gave oral or poster presentations describing their internship research experiences. Their presentations were evaluated and ranked by NOAA scientists.
