Keith Miles will remain the voice of the Rattler football this Saturday after the FAMU Boosters complete negotiations with the veteran broadcaster. Tallahassee's WCTV-TV reported the news on its 11 p.m. broadcast.

Miles is expected to provide the play-by-play commentary on the over-the-air (radio) broadcast, and via world wide web via FAMCast. He'll be backed up by his long time color commentator Mike Thomas and sideline reporter Victor Duncan. The veteran broadcast team has become one of the top broadcast teams in all of Division 1 FCS. With Miles, FAMU has a proven commodity that can get the job done.

Miles will also host the Coach Joe Taylor show carried on WCTV, the Sunshine Network and FoxSports.

FAMU had entered in to a contract with Jericho Broadcasting Network and one its affiliates, but later canceled that contract.

  1. I would love to see Bill Hayes face now. He needs to learn that the University has policies and procedures that should be followed, being the Athletic Director does not grant you the authority to run the Dept and you see fit. Has anyone heard, he does not even have anyone for concession in the stadium on Saturday...Was he the right man to run our Athletic Department

  2. Glad everything has worked out. I have always enjoyed listening to Keith and Michael. Bill Hayes almost screwed this up. Thanks Dr. Ammons for doing the right thing.

  4. I think Keith Miles does an excellent job and its difficult to remain calm when you're talking about your own team. Listen to some of the other commentators. I don't agree with everything Bill Hayes does, but you can't please everybody. At least he is flying the team to most games so they won't be worn out and he is trying to help bolster the efforts of the Booster's. As long as he leaves the local vendors alone, he's okay with me.

  5. the local vendors are taking money out of FAMU Athletics' pocket which means they are taking away scholarship money.

No other school, private building, and probably most public parks will allow you to set up shop without clearing it with the school/owner and giving them a cut.

And that goes double for people printing out bootleg FAMU shirts without giving the school a cut. Our vendor policy puts a strain on the scholarship budget. Getting the vendors to comply like all over institutions, we could probably give one more black kid a scholarship, which (in most HBCUs) means it's guy who had some difficulty making it to college in the first place.

Is it worth that for your precious vendors?

  6. Good to see Miles back. I would like for him to be more explicit about the action on the field. I have to get all my games from the radio, and I find myself asking what happened in the last play as Miles et al just blather on, but its not too bad.

I don't mind the rank shouting as long as someone gets him a good mike that does not distort when he gets loud, that's just ghetto.

  7. I think Mr. Miles Vantage Media is out-of-touch with the broadcast standards and the expectations of true Rattler fans. When I hear this broadcast and compared to other professional broadcast teams like the Jaguars, Bulldogs, and Auburn they provide the listener what they want to hear. If you never tuned in to a FAMU broadcast… well lets just say you get what you paid for. You will hear the standard gameday updates, stats, and halftime information, team breakdown and interviews however the lack of additional gameday flavor such as team trivia, updates on other sports teams schedules, on air promotions, are lacking. Should we be contained to hearing free shoutouts for haircuts and food? Most unprofessional. It is our most inner desire that this broadcast team gets the message before they call the first play of the game.

  9. Yea,there should be some guidelines of what could be said...well we all know where

  10. The school doesn't own the property where the vendors sell, so why should they make money from it. Most vendors sell before and after the game, so if they were to sell within the stadium, how would you police that. Additionally, how many people do you think would pay to get in the game just to purchase from the vendors. The Orlando Classic has about 5 times as many vendors and none of that money goes to the school so what's your rationale for charging vendors a fee in Tallahassee. The best way to raise money is to increase booster fees which is what they are slowly doing and if you're so concerned about somewhat getting a scholarship, why not donate for one.

  11. Congrats to the home team! There will always be haters, but the haters just make you stronger. Glad the fans stood up and "Moved Those Chains!" Welcome back Keith and Mike, in fact, you never left!

  12. To the guy too scared to put in his google acct:

I was talking about people that are on FAMU's campus. We can't stop someone who is on their lawn selling turkey legs.

But like the recent press release said, the big push is on the cats that are selling bootleg FAMU gear without the CLC licensing. That's the robbing aspect.

  13. I blame Mickey Clayton...Bill Hayes better watch out...Mickey will stab you in the back...I'm willing to be you that when they get rid of Bill Hayes Mickey is gonna try to be the interim AD and then slide right in. He need to be back in the booster doing the BS he does and not in Athletics.

  14. You know me and some of my co-workers were saying the samething about Mickey and his little puppy Clayton Smith. Mickey has bigger plans and they don't include Bill Hayes he wants to be the AD.
