Ummm Obama isn't decendent of slaves. He does not represent the black man in America.
ReplyDeleteThere are many black people who have lived in this country and are not descendant of slaves. Not every African person who came over had a slave existence. There were some free Africans. Furthermore, is the definition of an African-American is that you have to have a slave history or that you are of African descent born in America?
ReplyDeleteI have no problems identifying Barack as African American. When he walks down the street do white people grab their purse, deny him a cabride like other African Americans? The answer is yes. Our society does not know his heritage. Society sees skin color and that has always been the definer. Furthermore, Barack defines himself as a black man and that is evidenced by his black wife. Is Clarence Thomas more African-American than Barack Obama? Thomas has denied so much of his heritage.
