Joe Taylor’s Orange & Green machine will get a second chance at victory against Randy Shannon's Hurricanes this year. FAMU’s football seasons opens on September 4, 2010 at Landshark Stadium in Miami.

Last year’s game was attended by 47,859 fans. Although the Rattlers came up short with a 16-48 loss, Taylor said the game was a valuable test for his team.

“The experience was good,” Taylor said after last year’s contest. “We will be better as a result. That was some good competition and we competed. It's definitely going to make us better for the rest of the way.”

FAMU received a reported $600,000 payout from 2009’s matchup.

  1. Bring em on. Lets go Rattlers. Miami is a shell of the team that it once was. FAMU will win in 2010.

  2. This is a money game. I bleed Rattler orange and green, but I know that UM will probably beat FAMU by 20+ points. The money that the Rattlers will get for playing the Canes will go a long way.

I would like to see FAMU schedule some I-AA (FCS) teams that made the playoffs last year. The conference selection committee doesn't respect the MEAC enough.

  4. This is a money game, ie beat down game, just like the bulk of 09-10 men's basketball schedule we've played so far.

    Keep this in mind

  5. What in the hell is a "beat down game"? I don't recall very many schools on any level going undefeated in 2009 so did they also play at least one "beat down game"? I believe FAMU approaches every game TO WIN. And we will win in Miami in 2010. You wimped out jiggaboos kill me.

  6. Go Rattlers. The City of Miami and the Hurricanes LOVE you. They don't wanna lose but they like this series. Perhaps it would do them well to have the game become more competitive too. People love upsets and I'm no different. When you know college football, they should be happening more often. Let's make sure we're included when they break up that cartel call the BCS!

  7. Unless we can control UM's offensive and defensive lines, we are going to look like the 'Canes looked against the Badgers in the Citrus Bowl. And that wasn't pretty.

I love the RATTLERS and I agree we have some excellent players, but if we can't open holes and keep them open long enough for runners to get thru them and protect our young QB from different blitz packages, we don't have a chance. I'll plan on being in Miami, but every RATTLER needs to spend the summer in the weight room, if we are to have any chance at all,.

  9. It's good(financially) for FAMU to play UM, UF, USF(as they did years ago) but obviously it's usually not very competitive. Too much talent, depth, etc at the "other level" at this point. Great for recruiting and measuring stick of sorts--not much else. My usual hope is not to get embarrassed are sustain a major injury. Wish them well as always.
