multiple Florida jurisdictions will assist with booking the suspects.
Champion died on Nov. 19 in Orlando as the result of
injuries he sustained in a hazing incident that took place after the Florida
Classic. The assault took place aboard a bus parked at the Rosen Plaza Hotel.
The Orlando County Sheriff’s Office completed its
investigation in late March and turned its findings over to Lamar. Lamar has
appointed Ken Lewis to serve as the lead prosecutor in the Champion case. Lewis
is a veteran homicide trial lawyer.
