Hunter filed a battery report with the FAMU Police
Department on November 8. She said she was hazed while attempting to join the Red
Dawg Order, an unauthorized group of Marching 100 students from Georgia whose
members reportedly included now-deceased drum major Robert Champion.
Hunter’s police report led to the arrests of three men who
allegedly fist-punched her and beat her with a metal ruler.
Numerous media organizations reported that Hunter suffered a
broken thigh during the initiation process. But Hunter’s attorney is now
saying that a medical report says otherwise.
From the Orlando Sentinel:
B.J. Bernstein, a lawyer for Hunter, told the Orlando
Sentinel that her client required treatment for her injuries but acknowledged
that medical records show that Hunter's leg was not broken.
"It does not take away from the hazing that
occurred," Bernstein said in an email Friday. "It is particularly
awful that one of Bria's assailants would be involved with Robert's death.
Robert warned Bria that this hazing was like a cancer…"
Robert warned her that hazing is like a cancer...however he didnt take his own advice and not engage in it... isnt he a red dawg too? This just sucks...
ReplyDeleteYea he was a Red dawg
ReplyDeleteI wouldnt be surprised if Robert (RIP) was present the night Bria was hazed. I think ALL hazing is wrong but doesnt personal choice and accountability come into play somewhere? After all, sounds like the director warned them and even made them sign papers saying they wouldnt let anyone haze them.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if he was there
ReplyDeleteDoes personal choice/accountibility play a role? Especially when their director told them not to let any one haze them PLUS made them sign saying they wouldnt let anyone haze them.
ReplyDeleteRobert wasn't there when Bria was hazed. Robert was Red Dog but he wasn't hazed for it b/c Red Dog is a support group for members of the band who are from Atlanta. Hazing isn't a norm for the group. Robert walked onto Bus C b/c he was pressured to do so and he just wanted more respect in the band. There's nothing worse than being appointed a leader and a bunch of thug nobodys (percussion section) taunt you, disrespect you, and call you gay when you try to assert the authority given to you. Robert only got on that bus b/c he thought it would earn him some respect from a bunch of low-lifes.
ReplyDelete^so what you are saying is that this grown 26 year old made a choice on his own (for whatever reason)?
ReplyDeleteHow do you know if he was there? Were you there? If so you didnt stop it therefore you participated.
Its bad all around but the way I see it, its still choice!
This anonymous person better watch it....#fall2004
ReplyDeleteI agree fall 04. im a member of rdo and was roberts line brother....known him since we were at rival high schools, me in 10th grade and he in the 11th. We have had drum majors not do the bus before so I really dont know why he went thru with it. Regardless of why he decided to get on that bus, it was his own choice, not forced by anyone. Though im sad to have my brother gone, he put himself in the situation and it was a terrible tragedy that I wish he would've thought more about. As far as this Bria chick is concerned.....i knew since the first report she was lying. It doesnt take a rocket scientist to know that a ruler isnt strong enough to break a femur!!! Because of that one lie, her whole case is going to be looked at falsely and hopefully thrown out.
ReplyDeleteYou said it best. Oddly, the only thing that comforts me is knowing that Rob made the decision to get on the bus, not forced. And that Bria chick...smh...I have no words....and why is there a penis in the xray?
DeleteOh great, they changed it to the right picture
Deleteif RDO is a "support group" then why arent all band members from GA accepted? you have to go through an interview and be CHOSEN. if they dont like you, you wont be chosen. and outcasted.
