The first home game of FAMU's 2012
football season will include an enhanced experience with a special
halftime performance by recording artist, FUTURE. With one of the most
played songs on urban radio, FUTURE will kick off the football season as
the university celebrates its 125th year anniversary. FUTURE will also
host a meet and greet for winners of a promotional contest expected to
get fans and supporters of FAMU football excited about the upcoming
season.
“We are very excited about the 2012 football
season and the talent we have seen in our team,” said Derek Horne, FAMU
athletics director. “This is an exciting time for FAMU football, and the
Athletics program has created an energetic and vibrant halftime
production to give fans and supporters a spectacular experience. Having
FUTURE perform at the first home game sets the tone of what fans can
expect throughout the entire season.”
In addition to
FUTURE’s halftime performance, the entire game experience will be
enhanced with an Old School vs. New School DJ battle. DJ Demp, popular
among FAMU alumni, will represent for the New School while DJ Neaux out
of Atlanta accompanied by DJ Will ‘Power’ Packer of Rainforest Films
will represent for the Old School. Packer is a FAMU alumnus that has
now gone on to produce major motion picture films like Stomp the Yard, Obsessed and most recently Think Like a Man,
among others. Local radio personality, Joe Bullard, will serve as the
game’s MC and keep the energy and excitement level high among game
attendees.
In celebration of the university’s 125th
anniversary, the FAMU Athletics program takes on a brand new energy this
season unveiling a new theme – “Our Team, Our Time. Respect the Game.” Each game this football
season is enhanced to include a special halftime experience from major
recording artists but the talent lineup for the entire season is
tightlipped for now. In addition to the game experience, FAMU Athletics
is partnering with Visit Tallahassee to create sports travel packages
that includes hotel stay and a game ticket.
Opponents for
this year’s home games include Hampton University as the opening game on
September 15, Savannah State University on October 13, South Carolina
State University on October 20, and the homecoming game celebrating
FAMU’s 125th anniversary on November 10 against North Carolina Central
University.
LoL...somebody must don't pay close attention to Future following at his concerts. Well, let's hope he shows up for this event. Hopefully, he doesn't skip out, like half of his events. He's an okay artist, unfortunately his time to shine was yesterday, and in reality 2chainz, and cash-out overshadowed his recognition. Which in my opinion are considered better artist anyways. Wait til he hits the field and sing one of his degrading songs. Its obvious for an institution of higher learning we have to subject ourself to someone who degrades woman to the fullest extent, continuously promote elicit drug use and sales, and is the very core of the imagery that we try not to protest our youth to follow. Plus, in all honesty future is nothing more than a Roscoe Dash Jr. It has been did, and done that.

ReplyDeleteI thought we were having halftime entertainment to get more people to attend our games. Rap? Really!! The Majority of the people paying to see our games are not of the age to appreciate the cursing, sexist, nasty....
ReplyDeleteExactly, that's what im stressing. We have a good deal of alumni, rattler boosters, financial contributors to FAMU attending this game. Let alone this is the Hall of Fame game so we have alot of old heads bringing their family(kids). Not every crowd is a good crowd no matter how much money you can rake up. Not sure what the university true motive is but I will not be attending this event for I don't call my wife, or my mom, or my daughter a b@%# and I dang sure ain't encouraging my kids to grind hard and be dope dealers..its a shame FAMU have stopped to low levels..da coon circuit
ReplyDeleteEven plies himself have a few positive songs...future-none
ReplyDeleteFAMU will lose money this upcoming football season. If you don't believe, the Sonic Boom was suspended a few years ago for a hazing incident. They were to perform at a major event that year. Well let say the attendance was dismal. If not for the band alumnus that year, the band would not have perform at homecoming that year as well. FAMU will pay for bad decision making by the victim himself and those charge with his death.
