“We have joined efforts with our student body this year to
highlight the achievements of the university and we will honor our academic units
during this gala,” said FAMU Interim President Larry Robinson. “One of the
reasons why FAMU is a national university is because of the strong academic
programs that are managed by seasoned administrators and taught by committed
and talented of faculty. It will be a
night to remember as we also highlight former deans, graduates, faculty, staff
and students of our colleges and schools.”
During the gala, the university will focus the spotlight on
the achievements and programs of each of its 14 academic units. Sharon
Saunders, executive assistant for communications at FAMU, is chair of the gala.
Ann Kimbrough, dean of the School of Journalism and Graphic Communication, and
Carl Goodman, professor of pharmacy, are serving as co-chairs of the gala.
A concert featuring The Temptations with Dennis Edwards is
scheduled immediately following the gala program as a part of the entertainment
and is included in the $125 ticket price. Those only interested in attending
the concert can gain entry to the Lawson Center beginning at 8:30 p.m. by
purchasing a concert ticket for $30 at the ticket office or through Ticket
Master.
