A few weeks ago the National Association for Academic Athletic Advisors (N4A) launched the 11th annual Professional Development Institute (PDI).  The Institute’s mission is to create and maintain a learning community that transmits, creates, and preserves the knowledge that defines the profession. As a standout staff member Anthony Williams, athletic academic advisor at FAMU was selected after a very competitive application process in which only 25 applicants were chosen to attend from universities across the nation.

“We are truly proud and excited to have Anthony as a member of our Athletic Academic Support staff.  His focus and commitment to our charge forward are key to our future success”, said Joyce Ellenwood, assistant director for access and athletic academic support services.

Williams applied his aspirations further and submitted an application for Steve McDonnell Professional Development Institute Scholarship.  With the highest regard for his potential, he was selected as the first recipient of the 2015 Steve McDonnell PDI Scholarship.

Interim Athletic Director E. D’Wayne Robinson is very proud of the accomplishments of Williams.

“This is an exceptional opportunity that provides growth and highlights the quality personnel we have dedicated to providing academic support to our student-athletes with an Excellence with Caring attitude,” Robinson said.

Williams joined the FAMU athletic staff in 2011.  Since then he has been instrumental in assisting with the development of key academic support services for student-athletes.
