Mallory, a native of Jefferson County Fla. and retired
educator, began her teaching career in the 1920’s at Howard Academy High School.
“When I visited with Mrs. Mallory two weeks ago, she was
frail, but I could tell that her spirit was indomitable and that a serene peace
had surrounded her. Mrs. Mallory’s impact and resilience were truly inspiring,
and we join her family and friends in saluting the life and legacy of this
fallen Rattler,” Mangum said.
Mallory transferred to the Leon County School System in the
1960’s, and remained there until her retirement in the 1970’s. A member of
FAMU’s class of 1943, Mallory spent decades teaching and shaping the lives of
children in Jefferson and Leon Counties.
“While we mourn her passing, we will celebrate her
contributions to Florida A&M University and to the broader community,”
Mangum said.
